1. Earnings and production
Cenovus Energy's management commentary attributed third-quarter 2026 net earnings of CAD 3.36 billion to higher operating margin, partly offset by higher taxes. Higher crude prices and increased oil sands sales supported performance, while upstream production reached 1,023,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
2. Refining and debt
Elevated refining crack spreads lifted downstream operating margin to CAD 1.79 billion from CAD 953 million in the preceding quarter. Refinery throughput declined year over year, primarily reflecting the Wood River and Borger divestiture and Lima turnaround. Strong operating performance helped reduce net debt to CAD 3 billion from CAD 5.39 billion in the preceding quarter.
