CenterPoint plans $5 billion Texas customer savings initiative tied to 14 GW large-load additions over next decade

CenterPoint said the strategy aims to keep distribution infrastructure charges stable as new data centers or other large loads fund more connection-related costs.
The company will apply 2025 Senate Bill 6 requirements to new large-load projects, aligning with Gov. Greg Abbott’s push for clearer standards.
CenterPoint also signed the national Ratepayer Protection Pledge to prioritize affordability while connecting large-load customers.
CenterPoint launches Texas Customer Savings Initiative
CenterPoint on Aug. 11, 2026 launched a Customer Savings Initiative targeting more than $5 billion in Texas electric customer savings over 10 years.
The company said the plan hinges on adding up to 14 gigawatts of ERCOT-eligible base-load or studied-load projects to spread fixed grid costs across more large users.
