Century Aluminum and EGA Form 60/40 JV for Inola Fabrication Plant
U.S. Aluminum Company on Feb 24 2026 agreed with Emirates Global Aluminium (60%) and Century Aluminum (40%) to develop a fabrication plant alongside the Inola, Oklahoma primary aluminum smelter, targeting double national production. Construction is slated to start by end-2026 with first metal output expected before 2030.
1. Joint Venture Structure
Emirates Global Aluminium and Century Aluminum have established a 60/40 ownership split to develop the Oklahoma Primary Aluminum smelter in Inola, deploying EGA’s advanced EX technology. The project aims to double U.S. primary aluminum output and position Oklahoma as a national manufacturing hub.
2. Downstream Fabrication Agreement
U.S. Aluminum Company signed the first downstream agreement with the smelter developers to explore a co-located fabrication plant. This facility will convert molten aluminum into engineered products serving electrical, defense, aerospace, automotive and machinery industries across North America.
3. Project Timeline and Targets
Construction of the primary smelter is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026, with first metal output expected before 2030. The downstream fabrication plant’s development will be aligned with smelter commissioning to leverage immediate access to molten aluminum feedstock.
4. Strategic Implications for Century Aluminum
The partnership strengthens Century Aluminum’s U.S. footprint by shortening supply chains and enhancing processing capabilities. Expanded domestic production and downstream integration could drive revenue growth, improve margins and support long-term shareholder value.
