Charter Rolls Out L4S Ultra-Low Latency Internet in Four U.S. Markets
Charter Communications has deployed L4S-enabled ultra-low latency internet in Dallas–Fort Worth, Reno, Rochester, and St. Louis, providing smoother gaming, video calls and AI applications at no additional cost. The service, automatically included for Spectrum Internet subscribers, will expand nationwide as Charter completes its network evolution project.
1. L4S Technology Deployment
Charter has introduced ultra-low latency internet powered by L4S (Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput) technology to minimize lag and enhance responsiveness for real-time applications such as online gaming, video conferencing and AI tools. The network upgrade ensures smoother data transmission and reduced packet loss when paired with L4S-optimized devices and applications.
2. Initial Market Launch
The service is now live in the Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas; Reno, Nevada; Rochester, Minnesota; and St. Louis, Missouri areas, and is provided automatically at no additional cost to Spectrum Internet subscribers. Customers using compatible products from partners like NVIDIA can immediately benefit from lower latency without changing their plans.
3. Nationwide Expansion Plan
As part of Charter’s ongoing network evolution project, ultra-low latency internet will be rolled out across its 41-state footprint, bringing advanced connectivity to nearly 59 million homes and businesses. The phased expansion aims to complete the upgrade to L4S technology nationwide, delivering enhanced real-time performance to all Spectrum Internet customers.
