XOM•Tanker attacked near CPC terminal
MOSCOW, July 17 (Reuters) - An oil tanker chartered for loading oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal off Russia's Black Sea coast was attacked overnight, a CPC spokesman said.
He said the Suezmax-class tanker, the Nordic Zenith, was damaged and therefore will not be berthed and loaded at the terminal.
Crew evacuated after Mayday signal
The tanker sent a Mayday signal and CPC sent an emergency crew, which extinguished the fire and evacuated 13 people while nine chose to remain on board.
Sources told Reuters the vessel had been chartered by ExxonMobil.
