Chemours, DuPont, Corteva settle North Carolina PFAS lawsuits for USD 455 million

Total settlement payments are set at USD 455 million over 15 years, with Chemours responsible for 50% under the companies’ 2021 MOU.
Chemours expects about USD 50 million of payments over the next 12 months; its share is about USD 180 million on an NPV basis.
MOU escrow contributions
All future MOU escrow contributions will be treated as satisfied, including Chemours’ USD 50 million contribution otherwise due in September 2026.
Settlement with North Carolina
Chemours, DuPont and Corteva reached a settlement with North Carolina to resolve PFAS-related lawsuits tied to discharges from the Fayetteville Works site.
The deal also covers state claims of PFAS contamination unrelated to the site, including contamination from aqueous film forming foam use.
