Chevron says Equatorial Guinea's Aseng gas project on track for first gas in 2028
CVX•Chevron expects first gas from its $690 million offshore Aseng project in Equatorial Guinea in 2028. It plans to bring in a drilling rig, likely early next year, to drill a development well and tie the project to existing infrastructure.
1. Project schedule
Chevron is on track to deliver first gas from its offshore Aseng gas project in Equatorial Guinea in 2028, managing director Jim Swartz said. Chevron took a final investment decision on the $690 million project earlier this year and is “happy with its progress,” he said.
2. Drilling plans
The company plans to bring in a drilling rig, likely early next year, to drill a development well and complete a tie-back to existing infrastructure. Chevron also plans to use the rig to drill an exploration well next year.
3. Other Equatorial Guinea prospects
Chevron is considering data from other prospective blocks in Equatorial Guinea. In February, it renewed its commitment to the separate Yoyo-Yolanda gas project, which contains an estimated 2.5 trillion cubic feet of gas and straddles the maritime border between Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.
