China's commerce ministry extended by three months two investigations into US trade practices that it launched on March 27. The probes examine measures that the ministry says disrupt global supply and industrial chains and hinder trade in green products.
2. Trade talks context
The extensions came days after China and the US held trade talks and agreed to extend their trade truce by two months, through January 10, and cut tariffs on $60 billion of goods. The investigations were originally scheduled to conclude within six months and were counter-probes to US Section 301 investigations over forced labour and excess industrial capacity.
