China flags APEC's role as key for a challenged global economy
SPY•China's Finance Minister Lan Foan said APEC has a greater responsibility to help the global economy tackle its challenges. He urged the forum's 21 members to cooperate on growth, AI, the digital economy and green development.

Lan made the remarks at the opening of the APEC Finance Ministers' meeting in Hong Kong. He called on the forum's 21 members to work more closely to boost growth as rapid change and geopolitical conflicts affect the global economy.

Lan urged governments to cooperate on AI, the digital economy and green sector development, saying those efforts would create new sources of growth. He said China would continue comprehensive economic reforms but did not elaborate.
