China Greenlights Nvidia H200 AI Chip Sales, Resuming Production

NVDANVDA

Chinese regulators have approved sales of Nvidia’s H200 AI chips to multiple unnamed Chinese firms following U.S. licenses. CEO Jensen Huang said Nvidia has received purchase orders and will resume H200 production after halting output due to prior regulatory reviews.

1. Chinese Authorization for H200 Sales

Chinese authorities have granted permission for multiple domestic companies to purchase Nvidia’s H200 AI chips, marking the first approval of these next-generation accelerators in China. The licenses enable sales after months of regulatory review and build on earlier approvals in the U.S.

2. Dual-License Clearance Secured

Nvidia had been awaiting both U.S. and Chinese export licenses before fulfilling orders for the H200. With approvals now in place from both governments, Nvidia can legally ship its latest AI accelerators to a broad set of customers in China.

3. Production Restart and Order Pipeline

CEO Jensen Huang confirmed that Nvidia has received purchase orders from several approved customers and is preparing to restart H200 manufacturing. Production was previously halted while Nvidia navigated these regulatory hurdles.
