SPY•China and the European Union held intensive consultations on hybrid and electric vehicle trade. They agreed that China’s hybrid vehicle export quota would be no lower than quotas for other import sources and that export increases would be based on 2025 figures.
1. Hybrid vehicle quotas
China and the European Union held what China’s commerce ministry called “intensive consultations” on hybrid and electric vehicle trade and efforts to balance economic and trade concerns. Both sides agreed that China’s hybrid vehicle export quota would not be lower than quotas allocated to other import sources, and that EU measures must not specifically target Chinese products or discriminate against Chinese firms.
2. Exports based on 2025 figures
The sides also agreed to an upward adjustment of hybrid vehicle exports based on 2025 figures, the ministry said, to ensure opportunities and stable growth for Chinese enterprises.
