Ciena Integrates QCi QKD into Waveserver for 1.6 Tb/s Quantum-Safe Encryption
Ciena’s service provider revenues climbed as MOFN demand strengthened, driven by robust customer orders, market share gains and new cloud partnerships expanding its deployment footprint. At OFC 2026 the company integrated QCi’s quantum key distribution into its Waveserver optical encryption, enabling AES-256-GCM encryption at 1.6 Tb/s through an ETSI-standard API.
1. Service Provider Revenue Growth
Ciena saw its service provider revenues rise significantly as MOFN demand accelerated, underpinned by strong customer orders and market share gains in carrier and cloud segments. New collaborations with leading cloud operators broadened Ciena’s deployment footprint and reinforced confidence in its service portfolio growth trajectory.
2. Quantum Key Distribution Demonstration
At OFC 2026 Ciena partnered with Quantum Computing Inc. to integrate time-frequency entanglement QKD technology into its Waveserver optical encryption platform. The live demonstration achieved AES-256-GCM encryption throughput of 1.6 Tb/s via an ETSI-standard API, highlighting Ciena’s leadership in quantum-safe network infrastructure.
