Cigna Launches $1.5M, 10-Year Grant Honoring CEO’s Military Support Legacy
CI•Cigna Group Foundation commits $1.5 million over 10 years through the David M. Cordani Courage in Service Grant to award $150,000 annually to nonprofits supporting military and veteran health and social connection. The fund launch coincides with David Cordani’s shift from 17-year CEO role to executive chair of Cigna’s board.
1. Grant Overview
The Cigna Group Foundation has launched the David M. Cordani Courage in Service Grant, committing $1.5 million over 10 years to support military and veteran communities by funding programs that strengthen social connection, resilience and well-being.
2. Annual Awards and Application
Each year through 2036, one nonprofit will receive a $150,000 grant to fund peer support, wellness hubs and transition services; applications are open through July 30, 2026, for the 2027 grant cycle.
3. Leadership Transition
David M. Cordani, after 17 years as CEO, will retire from that role and become executive chair of Cigna’s board, with this grant serving to honor his legacy in championing initiatives that expand care and opportunity for veterans and military families.
