Cisco finds uneven post-quantum security readiness across Asia Pacific
CSCO•A 2026 report produced with Cisco’s assistance says post-quantum security readiness remains uneven across seven Asia-Pacific markets. Some industry estimates suggest quantum computers could break widely used public-key cryptography as early as 2029.
1. Uneven readiness
The CCAPAC Annual Report 2026 says post-quantum readiness remains uneven across seven Asia-Pacific markets. It warns that fragmented standards and duplicative testing could raise costs, disrupt cross-border operations and slow adoption of post-quantum cryptography.
2. Migration challenges
Some industry estimates suggest quantum computers could break widely used public-key cryptography as early as 2029, while encrypted data already faces collection risks. Legacy hardware may need replacement rather than software updates, and the report says governments should set migration milestones and prioritize critical infrastructure.
