Aug. 18 (Reuters) - Citgo's 165,000-barrel-per-day Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery's east plant FCCU2 was shut down in a controlled manner to complete maintenance on the depentanizer overhead condenser line, resulting in emissions, a community alert said on Tuesday.
Operations personnel followed FCC unit shutdown procedures which require the electrostatic precipitators to be turned off as part of the safety shutdown logic resulting in the excess opacity, Citgo added in the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality filing.
