Clearwater Paper turns to Q2 FY26 net loss of $21.5 million; net sales fall 4.34% to $374.8 million

Clearwater Paper posted a Q2 net loss of $21 million, swinging from profit, as net sales fell 4.33% to $375 million.
Adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations turned negative to $8 million, pressured by lower market pricing and a Lewiston maintenance outage.
Volume and pricing
Paperboard volume climbed 8% to 328,722 tons, while average net selling price slid 9% to $1,077 per ton.
Balance sheet and outlook
Net debt dropped $59 million in the quarter to $266.8 million. Management cited early signs of improving SBS conditions, but said pricing remains insufficient.
Operations and restructuring
The company completed the Lewiston, Idaho planned outage on time at a total direct cost of $22 million. It also restructured Cypress Bend to cut about 20% of roles.
