Clearway Energy begins construction on 650 MW Swan solar project in Missouri
CWEN•Clearway Energy Group closed financing and began construction on its $1.5 billion, 650 MW Swan solar project in Bates County, Missouri. The project targets commercial operations in 2028 and has a 20-year power purchase agreement.
1. Project details
The project is being built on formerly strip-mined land and is sized to supply about 200,000 homes annually. A bank consortium led by CIBC, DNB and National Australia Bank provided financing, and Clearway Energy, Inc. plans to invest at commercial operations. A 30-year PILOT deal is expected to generate more than $80 million for local schools and county services.
