Cleveland-Cliffs hosts US energy, commerce officials at Butler Works to showcase GOES expansion project
CLF•Cleveland-Cliffs will host U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright at its Butler Works plant on Oct. 6 to showcase a $200 million GOES expansion backed by a $75 million Department of Energy award. The project targets up to 25% higher output and is expected to be completed in early 2028.
1. Expansion project
The project includes new induction reheat furnaces intended to improve quality, cut losses, raise efficiency and lower emissions from hot rolling. The expansion is aimed at supporting U.S. transformer supply as grid investment lifts demand for GOES.
