CME Group Adds Mid-Curve S&P 500 Options and Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000 Quarterly Futures

CME Group will launch on May 11 Mid-Curve options on S&P 500 Annual Dividend Index futures alongside Nasdaq-100 and Russell 2000 Quarterly Dividend Index futures, pending regulatory approval. Open interest in dividend futures and options hit 860,000 contracts (up 27%) and S&P Annual Dividend Index options ADV rose 80%.

1. New Product Launch

On May 11, CME Group plans to introduce Mid-Curve options on S&P 500 Annual Dividend Index futures as well as Nasdaq-100 and Russell 2000 Quarterly Dividend Index futures, subject to regulatory review.

2. Trading Growth Metrics

Year-to-date open interest in CME’s dividend futures and options has risen to 860,000 contracts, a 27% increase, while S&P 500 Quarterly Dividend Index futures ADV rose 21% and options ADV on the S&P Annual Dividend Index climbed 80%.

3. Expanded Dividend Suite

These additions complement CME’s existing suite, which includes S&P 500 Annual and Quarterly Dividend Index futures, Nasdaq-100 Annual Dividend Index futures, and Russell 2000 Annual Dividend Index futures, enhancing tools for dividend risk management.
