1. 2027 star ratings
CMS said about 71% of Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan enrollees are currently in contracts that will have four stars or higher in 2027. About 37% of Medicare Advantage prescription drug contracts offered in 2027 earned four stars or higher overall.
2. Enrollment and payments
The one-to-five-star ratings are designed to help beneficiaries compare plans based on factors including customer satisfaction, access to care and management of chronic conditions. The 2027 ratings will be displayed during Medicare open enrollment from October 15 through December 7 and will affect 2028 Medicare Advantage quality bonus payments; higher-rated plans receive larger government bonuses that can be worth hundreds of millions of dollars for insurers.
