Coca-Cola Hits 2,000th Electric Truck Milestone, Sets Northampton Plant Closure
KO•Coca-Cola Canada Bottling received its 2,000th Orange EV electric yard truck, expanding a fleet that has logged 12 million key-on hours, 33 million miles and maintained 97% uptime. The company also will close its Northampton, Massachusetts non-carbonated beverage plant employing 175 by year-end to optimize operations.
1. Electric Fleet Expansion
Coca-Cola expanded its electric yard truck fleet with the delivery of its 2,000th Orange EV terminal truck to Coca-Cola Canada Bottling. The vehicles have accumulated more than 12 million key-on hours, 33 million miles and achieved 97% uptime across 370 fleets in 41 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces, eliminating 80-90 tons of CO2 annually per truck.
2. Massachusetts Plant Shutdown
The company confirmed it will close its Northampton, Massachusetts non-carbonated beverage plant, which employs 175, by the end of the year. The closure aims to optimize production network efficiency while offering employees transition support and exploring job opportunities with state partners.
