Coca-Cola unveils zero-sugar, hydration and RTD coffee pipeline to lift volumes

KOKO

Coca-Cola is accelerating its innovation pipeline to offset volume declines by emphasizing zero-sugar variants, newly launched hydration beverages, and ready-to-drink coffee products. Digital and sustainability initiatives will support these product launches to drive consumption in key markets.

1. Innovation Strategy Fuels New Growth

Coca-Cola has accelerated its innovation pipeline in response to softening overall volumes, rolling out a suite of zero-sugar extensions, hydration formulas and ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee products. In the most recent quarter, zero-sugar variants accounted for 22% of sparkling beverage volume, up from 18% a year earlier. The launch of a plant-based hydration line delivered a 15% year-over-year volume gain in key markets, while its RTD coffee portfolio posted an 18% increase in case shipments. These innovations are projected to contribute approximately 1.5 percentage points to organic revenue growth over the next 12 months and support a shift in the mix toward higher-margin offerings.

2. Digital and Sustainability Initiatives Enhance Consumer Engagement

On the digital front, Coca-Cola expanded its direct-to-consumer platform into five new international markets, driving a 35% jump in e-commerce revenue during the quarter. Loyalty programs integrated with mobile apps now boast 12 million active members globally, up 25% year-over-year, generating valuable data for targeted promotions. Sustainability commitments also advanced, with a 10% uptick in PET bottle collection rates in Europe and Latin America, and a pilot program converting post-consumer material into beverage packaging achieving a 60% recycling yield. Together, these efforts aim to deepen consumer relationships and reduce long-term packaging costs.
