Cognition Therapeutics Secures Zervimesine Patent Through 2045, Potentially Extending to 2050
CGTX•Cognition Therapeutics received a USPTO Notice of Allowance for patent application 19/563,468 covering a polymorphic crystalline form of zervimesine (CT1812), securing composition, production and therapeutic method protections through 2045 and potentially until 2050 with extension. The polymorph offers greater stability and is slated for DLB psychosis registrational trials.
1. Patent Allowance Received
On June 16, 2026, Cognition Therapeutics announced receipt of a USPTO Notice of Allowance for patent application 19/563,468 covering a polymorphic crystalline form of zervimesine (CT1812).
2. Scope of Patent Coverage
The allowed patent protects the composition of matter, a specialized production process and therapeutic methods for treating Alzheimer’s disease, geographic atrophy and dementia with Lewy bodies.
3. Enhanced Stability Profile
This new polymorphic crystalline form exhibits increased thermodynamic and chemical stability compared with the parent compound, creating a more favorable pharmaceutical profile.
4. Planned Clinical Development
Following productive discussions with the FDA in May, the company intends to use this polymorph in registrational trials for DLB psychosis to support its late-stage clinical program.
