Coherent to Unveil Ultrafast Lasers, Diamond Heat Spreaders and 5 GHz Filters at Photonics West 2026
Coherent will showcase CW to ultrafast lasers, bondable diamond heat spreaders, Sapphire XT visible lasers, OCT fiber assemblies, CO2 electro-optic modulators, FieldMax Touch meters and 5 GHz Waveshaper 1000A filters at SPIE Photonics West Jan. 20-22, 2026. The company will demo thermoelectric power generation, quantum encryption with Quside and deep-UV cutting.
1. Photonics West 2026 Showcase
Coherent Corp. will present its full photonics and advanced materials portfolio at SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco from January 20–22, 2026. The company plans live demonstrations at Booth 1234 of continuous-wave and ultrafast lasers, beam-delivery systems, specialty fibers and thermal management solutions. This marks Coherent’s 15th consecutive year at the event, with over 30 scheduled customer meetings and three executive panels highlighting AI datacenter interconnects, semiconductor capital equipment and quantum sensing applications.
2. New Product Announcements
At the show, Coherent will unveil five new offerings: a bondable diamond heat spreader that cuts interface thermal resistance by up to 99% on die sizes to 100 mm²; Sapphire XT, a compact visible laser with integrated controller for super-resolution microscopy; OCT specialty fiber assemblies optimized for cathether-based imaging in clinical settings; a CO₂ electro-optic modulator delivering high-power beam switching for PCB via drilling; and the FieldMax Touch Pro meter with 1 kHz pulse energy measurement capability. These products build on Coherent’s $250 million annual materials business and leverage in-house diamond growth and advanced coating facilities.
3. Live Technology Demonstrations
Visitors will witness Coherent’s Thermo-Electric Generation system converting waste heat into up to 10 kW of usable power for datacenters, and a joint quantum encryption demo with Quside showing verifiable entropy from a single 6" VCSEL. A deep-UV module combining a 266 nm picosecond laser and precision optics for film cutting will run continuous operation at 100 W average power, while the Waveshaper 1000A Sharp programmable filter will showcase spectral resolution down to 5 GHz (FWHM).
4. Investor Implications
Coherent’s expanded lineup reinforces its position in multi-billion-dollar markets: AI datacenter optics, projected to grow at a 20% CAGR; semiconductor inspection, exceeding $50 billion in capital spending this year; and quantum-safe security, where Coherent’s VCSEL-based entropy generator is positioned for integration into next-generation processors. The company’s vertical integration—from diamond growth to fiber fabrication—supports gross margins above 45%, and management has reaffirmed its mid-single-digit revenue growth target for fiscal 2026.
