Coherent Unveils 400G/Lane, 12.8T Optics and Multi-Rail AI Innovations
Coherent will showcase 400G/lane to 12.8T optical transceivers, advanced co-packaged optics, multi-rail transport and thermal energy harvesting at OFC 2026 from March 17–19 in LA. It announced founding roles in XPO and Open CPX MSAs to develop interoperable optics for 204.8Tbps per rack-unit density for AI datacenters.
1. Product Demonstrations at OFC 2026
At OFC 2026, Coherent will demo its vertical photonics stack with 400G/lane differential EML and silicon photonics PIC links, 3.2T transceivers and a new multi-lane XPO form factor for 12.8T. Additional showcases include co-packaged optics combining silicon photonics, VCSEL and InP-on-silicon, 1.6T OSFP transceivers, four-rail 1RU optical transport and a thermal energy generator harvesting waste heat.
2. Strategic MSA Memberships
Coherent joined the XPO MSA as a founding member to enable liquid-cooled optics modules delivering 204.8Tbps per open compute rack unit and co-founded the Open CPX MSA to define interoperable co-packaged interconnect engines. These alliances aim to accelerate an open ecosystem for ultra-dense, energy-efficient AI datacenter networking.
3. Executive Engagements and Panels
Coherent’s leadership will drive conversations on AI-scale optical networking across OFC plenaries, executive forums and technical sessions, including CEO and CTO panels, data center summits and quantum-safe networking workshops, reinforcing the company’s role in shaping next-generation photonics roadmaps.
