Commvault Launches Data Activate, AI Protect and AI Studio for Secure Enterprise AI
Commvault launched three AI resilience modules—Data Activate, AI Protect and AI Studio—to support safe AI adoption on Commvault Cloud by vetting backup data into Apache Iceberg and Parquet formats, discovering vulnerabilities and orchestrating agentic workflows. AI Protect maps agent activity for full-stack recovery while Data Activate continuously updates vetted datasets.
1. AI Resilience Modules Overview
Commvault introduced Data Activate, AI Protect and AI Studio on its cloud platform to strengthen data governance and recovery in AI deployments. These modules enable organizations to activate, discover, govern and recover AI agents and workflows within a unified interface.
2. Data Activate Functionality
Data Activate classifies and curates backup datasets into Apache Iceberg and Parquet formats, continuously publishing vetted data for AI pipelines. It helps teams exclude sensitive information like personally identifiable data before activating datasets for training and inference.
3. AI Protect Capabilities
AI Protect discovers agent activity across on-premise, SaaS and hybrid environments, maps actions to application stacks and identifies vulnerabilities. It supports full-stack recovery, enabling rollback of systems, configurations and data following unwanted agent-driven changes.
4. AI Studio Custom Agents
AI Studio offers a repository of built-in agents for common resilience tasks and tools for building custom agents using the Model Context Protocol server. Teams can integrate these agents with enterprise systems to automate secure backups, governance and remediation processes.
