Compass Therapeutics' tovecimig combination cuts progression or death risk 56% in biliary tract cancer trial
CMPX•Compass Therapeutics said tovecimig plus paclitaxel cut the risk of progression or death by 56% in a trial of previously treated advanced biliary tract cancer, meeting the study’s primary and key secondary goals. No statistically significant overall survival benefit emerged.
1. Trial results
Compass Therapeutics published Phase 2/3 COMPANION-002 results for tovecimig in previously treated advanced biliary tract cancer in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Tovecimig plus paclitaxel improved tumor response and delayed disease progression compared with paclitaxel alone.
2. Safety and survival
The study found no statistically significant overall survival benefit, with crossover to combination treatment complicating the analysis. No new safety signals emerged, though severe adverse events and treatment discontinuations were more frequent with the combination. The results are also being presented at the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology Congress in Madrid.
