CVS Caremark survey shows 91% of employers worry about rising prescription drug prices

CVS Health-backed CVS Caremark said its survey flagged employer focus on rising drug prices, specialty access, biosimilars and GLP-1 spending.
- 91% of employers reported concern over high medication prices for employees.
- 88% viewed pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, as well positioned to cut costs.
- Only 49% encouraged biosimilar substitution, 40% considered it, and 12% educated employees on potential savings.
- CVS Caremark said it has reported more than $3.3 billion in gross Humira-related savings since April 2024 from its biosimilar formulary strategy.
- 77% cited GLP-1 coverage costs as a concern, and 80% limited weight-loss GLP-1 coverage or considered limits.
