CVS Health and WGU have introduced an online Associate of Science–Health Science Pre-Pharmacy degree designed for CVS colleagues, including pharmacy technicians. The fully online curriculum covers foundational science, mathematics and communication courses crucial for PharmD admissions and allows students to progress at their own pace.

Participants pay an exclusive tuition rate of $3,989 per six-month term and can receive up to $3,000 in annual reimbursement through the CVS Health Enterprise Tuition Assistance Program. With the maximum reimbursement, the total out-of-pocket cost over the two-year, 26-course program is $9,956, and transfer credits may be applied.

This program targets the 40 percent of CVS pharmacy technicians who have expressed interest in becoming pharmacists, providing a clear, affordable pathway to a PharmD. By reducing financial barriers and expanding internal talent development, CVS Health aims to strengthen its pharmacist workforce across its 9,000 retail pharmacies, clinics and benefit management operations.
