Danaher Foundation Pledges $1M for Ebola Response in DRC, Uganda
DHR•Danaher Foundation committed $1 million to support Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak response in the DRC and Uganda through Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and World Food Programme USA, funding infection prevention, hygiene and emergency food assistance. The grant underscores Danaher’s global health focus but delivers no revenue benefit.
1. Donation Commitment
Danaher Foundation has allocated $1 million to support rapid response efforts against the Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, marking the largest emergency health grant made by the foundation to date.
2. Funding Distribution
The donation will be channeled through Save the Children, the International Rescue Committee and the World Food Programme USA, funding critical infection prevention, hygiene support, community-based health services and emergency food assistance in the hardest-hit regions.
3. Outbreak Overview
Over 1,000 Ebola Bundibugyo cases have been confirmed across eastern DRC, with the virus now spreading into Uganda; low diagnosis and tracing rates and high mortality among children under 14 underscore the outbreak’s severity.
4. Corporate Impact
While this philanthropic move strengthens Danaher’s global health credentials, the $1 million grant has no direct revenue impact but may enhance investor perception of Danaher’s commitment to public health and crisis response.
