Deals of the day: Mergers and acquisitions
AMD•Vesuvius said RHI Magnesita proposed a cash-and-stock bid valued at 551 pence per share. Other reported deals included AMD’s $8.2 billion acquisition of World Labs and AAR’s $1.8 billion purchase of a controlling interest in MRO Holdings.
1. Reported deals
Vesuvius said Austria-based RHI Magnesita proposed to buy the British metal flow engineering firm for 551 pence per share in cash and stock, after Vesuvius rejected previous offers over the past year. Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group offered to take Singapore-listed Zheneng Jinjiang Environment private in a deal valuing it at about S$1 billion ($782 million).
2. Other transactions
AMD said it would acquire AI startup World Labs in an all-stock deal valued at $8.2 billion. AAR said it would acquire a 65% controlling interest in aircraft maintenance company MRO Holdings for about $1.8 billion. Arcadis said it planned to divest most of its architecture business and its China operations as part of a 2027-2029 strategy.
3. Rejected and planned bids
Sources close to negotiations said Evonik rejected a €10.3 billion ($11.7 billion) takeover bid from BASF as too low. Guangzhou Automobile Group said it planned to acquire a 50% stake in FAW Toyota from a unit of FAW Group through a share issue.
