Dell Scores $9.7B Pentagon Software Deal After $6.25B Pledge
DELL•Dell Technologies won a five-year $9.7B deal to manage Microsoft software licenses for the U.S. military, intelligence agencies and Coast Guard after a $6.25B pledge to Trump Accounts and Michael Dell’s council role. The contract should save $422M annually and drove a 5% pre-market share gain.

Dell Federal Systems secured a five-year, $9.7 billion agreement to supply and manage Microsoft software licenses for the U.S. military, intelligence agencies and Coast Guard under the Core Enterprise Technology Agreement.
2. Sequence of Events
Prior to the award, Dell funded Trump Accounts with $6.25 billion and Michael Dell served on the President’s Science and Technology Council. Presidential purchases of $1–5 million in Dell stock in February and public endorsements of Dell computers preceded the contract announcement.
3. Expected Savings and Market Reaction
The consolidated licensing arrangement is expected to deliver approximately $422 million in annual savings for the Pentagon. Dell’s shares rose about 12% on May 8 and gained roughly 5% in pre-market trading following the announcement.
