Deutsche Bank Speeds Projects to 3-6 Months, Cuts Backlogs to Weeks
DB•Deutsche Bank’s AI initiatives have cut technology project timelines from twenty-four months to three-to-six months and reduced backlog tasks from months to weeks, the bank’s CIO said. It has allocated token-based quotas for its 9,000 Indian tech employees to manage usage-based AI costs and ensure efficiency.
1. Significant Reduction in Project Timelines
AI has slashed technology project durations from 24 months to just 3-6 months and shortened backlog tasks from multiple months to mere weeks, delivering clear productivity gains.
2. Usage-based AI Cost Management
Engineers operate under token-based AI pricing models, with predefined quotas for computational resources; additional capacity requires proof of value and usage patterns are monitored to optimize returns and control expenses.
3. Indian Tech Workforce Scale
Approximately 9,000 technology professionals in India, representing about 45% of Deutsche Bank’s global tech staff, support higher-value functions like finance, software development and R&D leveraging AI tools.
