Dexcom report flags low CGM awareness, reimbursement hurdles for Type 2 diabetes care
DXCM•DexCom’s 2026 “State of Type 2” report found that 55% of surveyed patients had limited CGM knowledge and reimbursement was cited as a barrier by 90% of U.S. healthcare professionals.
1. Survey findings
The report, released ahead of EASD 2026, covered more than 800 healthcare professionals and 2,500 Type 2 diabetes patients across eight countries. While 89% of healthcare professionals said CGM helps assess adherence between appointments, 90% of U.S. respondents cited reimbursement as a barrier, compared with 53% in the other surveyed countries. CGM use alongside GLP-1 medication was reported by 58% of GLP-1 users, versus 27% of Type 2 patients not using insulin.
