DHT Holdings Takes Delivery of Third VLCC Newbuild, Locks in Five-Year Charter
DHT Holdings took delivery of the DHT Gazelle, the third of four Antilope-class VLCC newbuilds, and secured a five-to-seven-year charter with a major oil company. The company also delivered the 2007-built DHT China to new owners and expects its fourth newbuild in June 2026.
1. Newbuild Delivery and Charter
DHT Holdings has taken delivery of the DHT Gazelle from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, marking the third of four Antilope-class VLCC newbuilds scheduled for delivery by mid-2026. The vessel will immediately commence a five-to-seven-year time charter with a major oil company, providing stable cash flow over the contract term.
2. Sale of DHT China
Simultaneously, DHT delivered the 2007-built DHT China to its new owners, advancing its planned fleet renewal strategy by replacing older tonnage with modern, fuel-efficient vessels.
3. Final Newbuild Timeline
The fourth and final Antilope-class newbuilding is expected for delivery in June 2026, coinciding with the previously announced sale and mid-year handover of the 2007-built DHT Bauhinia. This sequencing underscores a seamless transition between aging assets and state-of-the-art tonnage.
4. Enhanced Efficiency and Earnings Power
These fully funded newbuilds are designed to boost DHT’s earnings power and operational efficiency, as the modern VLCCs offer improved fuel consumption, lower emissions, and enhanced commercial appeal in long-term charter markets.
