DIS•Disney is laying off a few hundred employees across its human resources and technology departments, a source familiar with the matter said.
1. Cuts across departments
Disney is laying off a few hundred employees across its human resources and technology departments. The company employed about 231,000 people at the end of fiscal 2025, including about 172,000 in the United States and 59,000 outside the country.
2. Previous job cuts
In April, Disney eliminated about 1,000 positions across marketing and other areas, including its studio and television business, ESPN, products and technology, and certain corporate functions. It also laid off several hundred employees last year in film and TV marketing, TV publicity, and casting and development, and cut 7,000 jobs in 2023 as part of efforts to save $5.5 billion in costs.
3. Leadership changes
Disney has seen several C-suite changes since Josh D’Amaro became CEO in March, including the appointment of company veteran Paul Roeder as chief communications officer.
