Domestic Rare-Earth Magnet Output to 400 Tonnes by 2027 Supports Meta’s AI Infrastructure

METAMETA

Meta’s hyperscale AI data centers rely on permanent magnets sourced from rare-earth alloys that REalloys will produce at its Euclid, Ohio metallization facility, targeting 400 tonnes of output by end-2027. This domestic capacity could lower server hardware costs and reduce supply risks tied to Chinese magnet production.

1. Meta’s AI Infrastructure Reliance

Meta Platforms operates hyperscale AI data centers that depend on high-performance permanent magnets manufactured from rare-earth alloys. These magnets are critical to powering GPU and server systems used in AI training and inference workloads, making stable magnet supply essential to Meta’s infrastructure efficiency and cost structure.

2. REalloys Euclid Facility Scale-Up

REalloys has reopened rare-earth metallization capacity in Euclid, Ohio, converting oxides into high-purity metal and alloys. The facility aims to reach 400 tonnes of annual metallized output by the end of 2027, reducing North American dependence on Chinese production and bolstering supply security for technology companies like Meta.
