Domo Accelerates Data Pipelines with AI-Guided Magic ETL Enhancements
Domo added full support for Personal Data Permissions in Magic ETL, enabling row-level security on governed datasets and allowing more users to build transformations without compromising policies. It unveiled an AI-guided JSON connector assistant and a redesigned Magic ETL canvas with dark mode, Disable Tiles and Run to Here.
1. Stronger Governance with Personal Data Permissions
Domo now supports full enforcement of Personal Data Permissions within Magic ETL, enabling row-level security on governed datasets used in dataflows. This update allows teams to build and maintain transformations without granting excessive access, preserving existing security policies while broadening user participation in pipeline design.
2. Redesigned Magic ETL Authoring Experience
The Magic ETL canvas has been redesigned with customizable panel layouts, workspace settings and a new dark mode option. Workflow enhancements include Disable Tiles to toggle transformation steps off, Run to Here to execute pipelines up to a selected step, and Row Count Observability for stage-level data metrics.
3. AI-Guided Connectivity and Unstructured Data Support
Domo previewed an AI Assistant for the JSON No Code connector, allowing natural language configuration of REST API connections. The platform also introduced Domo Documents to ingest and make searchable unstructured files from sources like Amazon S3, Google Drive, and SFTP servers, enabling extraction of structured information via a new Documents tile.
4. Availability and Release Status
Disable Tiles and Run to Here features are generally available, while the redesigned canvas and Row Count Observability remain in beta. The AI Assistant for the JSON connector and additional AI-powered tiles are expected later this year, with five AI-ready connectors already released.
