Between 2022 and 2025 Duke Energy hired over 100 program graduates, establishing a steady talent pipeline for its 12,300 megawatt Florida utility operations.

1. Grant Awards to Colleges

Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $50,000 grants to Lake-Sumter State College, Seminole State College of Florida, Valencia College, St. Petersburg College and South Florida State College to support their electrical lineworker training programs.

2. Training Program Details

Each program offers industry-recognized training lasting seven weeks to 18 months, equipping students with skills for entry-level electric utility positions and addressing a 7% projected employment growth for lineworkers through 2034.

3. Talent Pipeline and Impact

Between 2022 and 2025, Duke Energy hired over 100 program graduates, bolstering its workforce for its Florida subsidiary, which operates 12,300 megawatts of capacity and serves 2 million customers across a 13,000-square-mile service area.
