DUK•AI-powered Bill Insights now provides Duke Energy Carolinas residential customers with plain-language breakdowns of monthly energy cost drivers, including weather effects and usage trends, via the mobile app. The feature is available immediately for Carolinas users and will expand to Duke Energy Progress in mid-July.

Duke Energy has introduced the AI-powered Bill Insights feature in its mobile app for Carolinas residential customers, offering a personalized, plain-language breakdown of factors driving each month’s energy costs, such as weather impact and usage comparisons.
2. Weather Impact on Energy Costs
Cooling degree days in Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham were 12%–18% above 1991–2020 normals during the summers of 2024 and 2025, while rising humidity forces AC units to run longer and devote up to 30% of capacity to moisture removal.
3. Upcoming Feature Expansion
Bill Insights is live now for Duke Energy Carolinas users and will roll out to Duke Energy Progress residential customers in mid-July, with plans to add more detailed analytics and personalized recommendations in future phases.
4. Customer Energy Saving Tips
Alongside Bill Insights, Duke Energy advises adjusting thermostats, using ceiling fans, deploying dehumidifiers and exploring Smart $aver rebates for HVAC and insulation upgrades to help manage summer energy consumption and costs.
