DuPont, Chemours, Corteva settle North Carolina PFAS claims for $455 million over 15 years

DuPont reached a settlement with North Carolina and 11 local entities over PFAS-related claims tied to Fayetteville Works.
Total payments of $455 million will be spread over 15 years, with a net present value of about $355 million shared with Chemours and Corteva.
DuPont’s pre-tax present value share is about $126 million. Of that amount, 44% will be reimbursed by Qnity Electronics, and the costs are largely covered by accruals.
An additional $18 million of the settlement covers alleged PFAS contamination unrelated to Fayetteville Works, and up to $14.4 million is tied to AFFF.
