ECARX, TPK to Co-Develop ORCA LiDAR with 2028 Thailand Production
ECX•ECARX and TPK have signed a binding memorandum to co-develop the ORCA LiDAR platform targeting global OEMs and robotaxi fleets. Mass production is slated to begin in 2028 at TPK’s advanced Thailand facility, leveraging ECARX’s system integration and TPK’s optical manufacturing expertise.
1. Joint Development of ORCA LiDAR Platform
ECARX and TPK Holding have entered a binding memorandum to co-develop the ORCA LiDAR platform, aiming to meet stringent global regulatory and functional safety standards. The partnership combines ECARX’s system integration capabilities with TPK’s optical manufacturing expertise for next-generation ADAS and autonomous driving systems.
2. Mass Production Timeline and Facility
Mass production is scheduled to commence in 2028 at TPK’s advanced production facility in Thailand, which offers high-volume optical component manufacturing and supports efficient global supply chain delivery. This timeline aligns with growing demand for scalable autonomous mobility services.
3. Division of Development Responsibilities
Under the agreement, ECARX will lead system integration, sensor fusion and global commercialization leveraging its OEM and robotaxi relationships, while TPK will contribute its optical design engineering and precision high-volume manufacturing strengths.
4. Strategic Market Positioning
The ORCA LiDAR platform is engineered for low-latency perception and seamless hardware-software coordination, positioning ECARX to expand its automotive intelligence ecosystem across premium passenger cars and scalable autonomous mobility markets.
