ECB flags AI valuations, bond stress and fund losses as main risks
SPY•ECB Vice-President Boris Vujcic identified high AI-stock valuations, stress in government bond markets and potential losses at shadow banks as the main current risks to financial stability. The ECB will publish its Financial Stability Review on November 18.
1. Three financial risks
Vujcic said the ECB sees high valuations for AI stocks, stress in government bond markets and potential losses at investment funds and other shadow banks as the main risks to financial stability. He said the recent correction in AI stocks affects investment funds with AI-linked positions, including in Europe.
2. Bond market concerns
Vujcic cited a sharp rise in government bond yields, especially for indebted countries. He said the ECB would monitor the bond market, but that governments should provide the primary response if the problem is fiscal.
