EDF Grants KKR Right to Acquire 5.6 GW North American Power Assets
PSIX•EDF granted KKR an irrevocable right to acquire its US and Canada Power Solutions operations and 5.6 GW of renewable and storage assets, subject to employee consultations and regulatory approvals. EDF also signed long-term PPAs for 150 MW of UK solar capacity under CfD-backed contracts with real-time market optimisation.
1. Divestment Deal with KKR
EDF has signed an agreement granting KKR an irrevocable right to acquire its US and Canada Power Solutions operations and assets. The deal gives KKR control over development, construction and operation of renewable plants, storage sites, EV charging infrastructure and microgrids in North America.
2. Asset Portfolio and Conditions
The North American business holds a combined net installed capacity of 5.6 GW in renewables and storage. The transaction remains subject to consultation with employee representative bodies and regulatory approvals, with financial terms yet to be disclosed and EDF retaining an option to sell.
3. UK Solar Power Purchase Agreements
Separately, EDF secured long-term power purchase agreements for over 150 MW of solar projects in the UK under the CfD scheme. Each PPA includes real-time market optimisation and AI-driven tools to manage exposure to negative electricity prices and align with index-linked government contracts.
