EHang EH216-S completes first public flight in Hong Kong sandbox trial project
EH•First public flight in Hong Kong
EHang’s EH216-S pilotless, human-carrying eVTOL completed its first public flight in Hong Kong at Cyberport under “Regulatory Sandbox X.”
The demonstration covered vertical takeoff and landing, low-altitude cruise, and hovering on pre-programmed routes, supporting commercialization preparations in Hong Kong.
Further public flight sessions and regulatory goals
Multiple public flight sessions are scheduled for Aug. 28-30 to validate reliability and safety under regular, high-frequency operating scenarios.
The program aims to generate real-world operational data to shape regulatory frameworks for pilotless eVTOL operations in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
Hong Kong officials said drafting work for dedicated legislation on non-conventional aircraft is targeted for completion in 2027.
