India’s delegation met Dutch firms in Eindhoven to forge semiconductor investment deals under programs covering 50–75% of costs and eight projects such as the $14 billion Tata Electronics fab. NXP Semiconductors, headquartered in Eindhoven, could benefit from expanded equipment exports and future India-based chip manufacturing.

1. India’s Semiconductor Delegation Visits Eindhoven

On March 4, an Indian trade delegation toured Eindhoven’s semiconductor hub to explore partnerships and investment in domestic chip manufacturing. Discussions covered eight ongoing projects, including the $14 billion Tata Electronics fabrication facility in Gujarat, aiming to leverage local engineering talent and global supply chains.

2. Subsidy Programs and Investment Incentives

India’s 2021 subsidy program covers up to 50% of project costs, with state governments adding 20–25% support. A second subsidy package awaiting approval on March 30 could further increase funding, underscoring New Delhi’s commitment to attract chip fabs and equipment manufacturers.

3. Opportunities for Dutch Firms and NXP Semiconductors

Dutch equipment makers, including ASML and NXP Semiconductors headquartered in Eindhoven, see India’s market as key for a China-plus-one strategy. About 50–60 Dutch firms have requested meetings to discuss equipment exports and potential India-based manufacturing operations.
