Electricity North West hosted Ofgem chair Mark McAllister and MP Andrew Snowden at its Peel Road, Blackpool, 132,000-volt substation site.
The delegation reviewed progress on a GBP 17 million overhaul, expected to run through 2027, aimed at doubling capacity.
Project aims and regulatory context
The upgrade supports supply for more than 85,000 properties, and is intended to add headroom for regional growth, electrification and renewable connections.
The project forms part of a load re-opener submission filed with Ofgem in January 2025.
