electroCore study suggests vagus nerve stimulation accelerates visual skill learning
ECOR•A five-day controlled study of 50 healthy airmen found that electroCore’s gammaCore Sapphire device improved coordination between sequential tasks during visual learning. The findings were previously presented by the Air Force Research Laboratory.
1. Study findings
The study compared active cervical vagus nerve stimulation using gammaCore Sapphire with sham stimulation in two groups of 25 airmen. Participants receiving active stimulation showed improved coordination between sequential tasks, while later brain activity suggested reduced executive demand as they gained practice. The findings support potential use in complex perceptual training; full results are slated for peer-reviewed publication at the laboratory’s discretion.
