Emergent rises on $24 million anthrax vaccine order
EBS•Shares rise after BARDA order
Shares of drugmaker Emergent BioSolutions EBS.N rose 3.8% to $6.33 in premarket trading after the company received an order worth about $24 million from the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority to supply its Cyfendus vaccine for anthrax preparedness.
Cyfendus, approved in 2023, is a two-dose vaccine used with antibiotics in adults after suspected or confirmed exposure to anthrax, a potentially deadly bacterial infection.
The award follows an order worth up to $21.5 million earlier this year to supply the company's BioThrax anthrax vaccine.
As of the last close, EBS was down 50.7% year to date.
