Enbridge Texas Eastern natgas pipeline sees Kentucky pipe back in early November
ENB•Enbridge's Texas Eastern unit expects its pipeline between the Tompkinsville and Danville compressor stations in Kentucky to return to service during the first week of November. The line was taken out of service on October 2, and the company expects more clarity on the return date by October 23.
1. Kentucky pipeline outage
Texas Eastern Transmission said it expects the pipeline between the Tompkinsville and Danville compressor stations to return to service during the first week of November. The unit declared force majeure after an unplanned outage on its 30-inch system north of Tompkinsville on October 2, and expects to have greater clarity on the return date by October 23.
2. Pipeline capacity and flows
The system can transport about 1.9 billion cubic feet of gas per day from Kentucky to Tennessee. About 1.6 billion cubic feet per day was flowing through the Tompkinsville and Danville compressors on Wednesday. Texas Eastern can transport about 12 billion cubic feet per day across 8,532 miles of pipeline between Texas, the Gulf Coast and the U.S. Northeast.
3. U.S. gas output
Average natural gas output in the Lower 48 states fell from record highs of 113.3 billion cubic feet per day in August and September to 111.2 billion cubic feet per day so far in October, due in part to force majeures and other pipeline problems in Kentucky, Texas, West Virginia and elsewhere.
